The Unexpected Guest
Its Perfect to not be Perfect - Big Lesson Learnt
I still remember the time when I went all out for that unexpected guest from my in-laws side? A relative's family from my in-laws side had a visit planned. I wanted to make a fantastic impression. 💫 I spent the entire morning preparing a delicious lunch, assuming everyone would enjoy it. But then, an elder member from family joined them, which I was not aware of, and I learned she doesn't eat onion or garlic. 🧄🧅
Panic set in! I had to completely redo the entire meal in a matter of minutes. It was exhausting, 😫 but I pushed through. I couldn't let them go hungry, 😕 especially since it was their first visit.
Looking back, it was a pivotal moment. I poured all my energy into making them comfortable, neglecting my own well-being and even my work commitments. They were incredibly appreciative, showering me with praise, 💐 calling me the 'best daughter-in-law ever.' But after that day, I never heard from them again. 😶
It was a harsh lesson. I realized I had prioritized their comfort over my own needs. I learned that while it's important to be hospitable, it doesn't mean sacrificing your own well-being. I vowed to never let that happen again. 💪
This experience taught me a valuable lesson: to prioritize myself. To recognize my own worth and not let others take advantage of my kindness. It's easy to get caught in the trap of pleasing others, especially as women. We often feel the pressure to be perfect hosts, to always be available, to put everyone else's needs before our own. But that constant giving can leave us feeling drained and undervalued. 😓
This experience was a wake-up call. I started setting boundaries, 🚫 saying 'no' when I needed to, and prioritizing my own needs. It wasn't easy, 😣 but it was liberating. 🕊️ I realized that my happiness and well-being are just as important as anyone else's.
So, to all the women out there, 👩 remember to prioritize yourselves. Don't let anyone take advantage of your kindness. You deserve to be happy, fulfilled, and respected. You are worthy of your own time, energy, and love.
